New Orleans

Let me start by saying Thank you Donald !!!  He had some pictures on his phone from our LSU visit.

This is one of the equipment rooms where the cleats are and then the helmets are to the right.  Above you see three of the gloves that the team uses on different occasions.  Super cool in person, as you can't really see the details.

This is the Locker Room in the Practice Facilities.  Tristen and Brian are by TZ's favorite player, #3.  The locker room at Tiger Stadium are completely different.

This is the indoor practice field.

This is the Team Briefing Room in where they have their team meeting before they break into special teams.  We saw the video that they show the recruits and I have to tell you...we were ready to sign !!!

This is the Lawton room where all the Football trophies are.  Behind Tristen is the National Championship one.

So it only took a couple days, but Jenneth finally had a new best buddy...Uncle Donald.

The last night we were in Baton Rouge we went to this pizza place that had games for the kids...

And what would a trip be without shooting practice at Bass Pro Shops !!!  I have to say that Tristen, Jenneth, and I did not fair as well as the "locals"

So now to New Orleans !!!!  Cafe Du Monde and delicious Beignets.

This was Jenneth's reaction as she saw them delivered and ALL the powdered sugar.

Tristen on the other hand just got down to business.  Not sure that this picture does it's justice, but Tristen had powdered sugar everywhere !!!!  Take a look at him and the table.

This is Jackson Square with The Cathedral in the background.

Jenneth and I trying on some masks

Bourbon Street Baby !!!  Jenneth was really done with pictures by this time.

This was a great restaurant: The Camellia Grille which is this tiny place that had outstanding food and fantastic service.

Jenneth's # 1 to do on the trip was to take a Horse Carriage Tour.  So we did the longer one that took us to the St. Louis Cemetery Number One.  This is the tomb that Nicolas Cage bought...Seriously.

This is one of the community tombs..

Nothing like a family photo in The Cemetery.

This is the second most visited tomb in the United States: second to Elvis Presley.  This is the tomb of Marie Laveau.  She was very popular as The Voodoo Queen but was a devote Catholic as well, which is amazing that she was allowed to be buried in the Catholic Cemetery.  You can see that people have written XXX on the tomb as well as offerings that you will see in front of the tomb.  It is said that if you leave her an offering with your wish, it shall be granted.

Here are the kids on the Carriage Ride.  They got to sit on the front row and loved it !!

This is Cash, our Mule.  He did a great job.

Brian did a lot of research and found this BBQ place, The Joint.  This is where the locals go and it might have had 6 tables in the entire place.  If you are in NOLA, it was worth the drive.  It's  just a few miles outside of downtown.

The kids at The Joint..

To end our vacation, we made one last stop in Memphis.  We went to opening night for The Memphis Red Birds.  What a great ballpark !!!

As with everything else we did on this trip...we ate.  They had Rendezvous Pork BBQ Nachos !!!!  Those of you that know Memphis, know Rendezvous and how great their BBQ is.  The most expensive Nachos at a ballpark, but worh it.

The Red Birds lost, but they had and awesome fireworks display at the end.  Made a perfect ending to a great night.

Spring Break Baton Rouge Style

We have been having a great time here in Baton Rouge.  We did have a little incident however where my camera was taken, so all of those awesome pictures I cannot share with you.   What you would have seen:  It pays to have a brother that is Sergeant of the Baton Rouge Police Motors (motorcycle division)    Donald had set up a "back lot tour" of the LSU Football facilities.  We got to see the equipment rooms, which yes there is one for helmets, one for uniforms, one for shoes, one for gloves, etc....The locker room, the indoor full size field, and workout area (HUGE!!)  I even did a little lifting myself.  We then headed over to Tiger Stadium where we were able to see all locker rooms, coaches rooms, and of course the tunnel where they run through on to the field tapping the "Win" sign.  Tristen jumped and tapped the Win sign, but you won't be able to see that.
So after buying a brand new camera. UGH..... we now have pictures to share of the Louisiana State Museum.  Cool place if you are ever there.

Close up for Nana...you know how she likes to see faces in the pictures.

This is a Shrimp Boat that Donald (that's my big brother in the picture with me) helped in bringing into the Museum.

One of the first Submarines...If you feel that thing, you are not sure how the heck it floated in water.  Solid Steel.

Oh no !!!!  An Alligator is going to eat Tristen.

And here is round two of the Capital.  Again pictures that you would have seen from the stolen camera.  We went to the top of the Capital and great views !!

The mighty Mississippi River....

USS Kidd

Patriotic aren't we ????  Watch out Will, I see a future Naval Academy Plebe !!

And the highlight of the week so far....The LSU Baseball game.

Tristen has picked out where we are going to sit when we come watch him play ball here.  Hey....if that what gets us through school.....

What would a baseball game be without spending your life savings at the concession stands.  We were just fine until Uncle Donald had a huge corn dog, so Jenneth had to have one too.

Thanks Donald !!!  This was an awesome night.  LSU Wins.

Jenneth wanted to make sure that this picture was included in the blog.  We just had to have this LSU Leotard because Tristen got a Baseball Jersey.  I have to say that she has yet to take it off....
